Would Avatars Make Teams Meetings More Entertaining

Aren’t we all just over the video calls. They might be apart of our everyday work life, but it doesn’t make them any more exciting. So, would avatars make Teams meetings more entertaining?

Yup, avatars. Microsoft is introducing Metaverse style avatars to Teams.

You will be able to design your own Mesh avatars, customizing the appearance, accessories, and even the reactions.

It’s very common to feel stress and exhaustion after spending hours on camera. Microsoft knows that. That’s why they want us to use visual representations of ourselves to manage the stress among other things for these avatars.

And you won’t require a pricey virtual reality headset. The Avatars app, which can be found in the Microsoft Teams app store, is available to everyone.

Big Tech Endorses the Metaverse

Big tech is investing heavily in the development of the Metaverse, a 3D virtual world that aims to resemble the real world. Many of the things you’re already familiar with – stores, offices, even social spaces – can be found there. In the upcoming years, some believe it will emerge as “the new internet.”

It may or may not be hard to imagine a virtual world like this, but 20 years ago it was difficult to fathom having regular mobile video calls with people on the other side of the world.

Times are changing, and it’s exciting.

The new avatar feature is now only available through the Teams preview build, but a general release date is announcing soon.
