New Features To Stop Apps From Spying on You
It shouldn’t be a secret to you that certain applications have an unhealthy amount of interest in who we are and what we do. When will be get new features to stop apps from spying on you.
Each of us have had this experience. You may be having a conversation with a friend talking about a new product you want to try. Or maybe even about a place you’d like to visit.
Then you get that eerie feeling when you see advertisements for the very item or place you were discussing.
Surely it’s not just a coincidence??
We have not had much control over the data that our applications are collecting on us until recently.
The initial steps were taken by Android and iOS when they gave us more control over our online privacy. We are given the choice of which apps could access our information and private features such as the camera or microphone.
It’s easy to assume that the issue is only with our phones. Unfortunately, the same issues apply to laptops and computers.
So let’s get to the good news. Microsoft is experimenting with a new feature in Windows 11 that will return control to our hands very soon.
The new feature they are testing being Privacy Auditing. This feature will allow you to view which apps are accessing sensitive hardware like your camera and microphone.
Additionally, you’ll be able to check to see whether anyone has views any of your screenshots, messages, contacts, or location information. You’ll also have access to a log that records when this information is in use and when.
When Microsoft introduces these new features to stop apps from spying on you, the functionality will be accessible under App Permissions in your Privacy & Security menu.
In there, you will be able to view a complete list of user access, by which app and when. It is the first place you should visit if you suspect any strange activity.
For the meantime, if you would like someone to review your data permissions on your business devices, we urge you to get in touch.
