Half of businesses can’t spot these signs of insider cybersecurity threats
Insider threats can range from employees taking confidential data with them when they leave to those actively working with cybercriminals. Over half of companies find it impossible or very difficult to prevent insider attacks, according to a Ponemon Institute study. These companies are missing warning signs such as opening large files and circumventing security controls.
Only a third of businesses believe they are effective at preventing data leakage. Over half of businesses say they lack cybersecurity expertise. Remote working has made it harder to mitigate risks, according to the Ponemon Institute’s survey of more than 1,000 business owners and staff.
Companies need to take a human approach to understanding and detecting insider threats, says the company’s chief customer officer.
